Institute for Conflict Management
Family Mediation Department

Family/Divorce Mediation at the Institute for Conflict Management is based on the philosophy of restorative justice. Where conflict is seen in terms of broken relationships and justice is the process of restoring the inequity and repairing the damage done, as far as possible.

Through the mediation process couples are encouraged to examine the facts and emotions of their conflict to see what can be reconciled between themselves and family. If the couple decides that they cannot reconcile ICM helps them draft the agreements that create equity and stability in the family relationship.

To mediate cases in our Family Mediation Department mediators should have prior mediation training through a certified program. With such training members of the community would be qualified to register for this departments 30-hour advanced training course. This training is also approved for 22 MCLE and behavioral science credits.

Please feel free to check our Mediator Schedules for events, dates and information on our upcoming trainings. For advanced training specific to the Family Mediation Department, please see below.
